The Detrola 400 is a very rare camera, even on the US market. It is due to two factors: its weak production, is less than 1000 specimens (over one short duration) and the fact that positioning on a market already occupied by Leica, it did not succeed in competing with those, nor even (big error) with being compatible with them. Thus, the lenses have a screwmount of diameter of 38 mm, against the 39 of Leica. Missed!
Credibility undoubtedly was also lacking with a brand, which hitherto produced rather simple camera, essentially out of bakelite. Those which were risked with the purchase of this camera, were often for their money. The camera broke down and was send back to the manufacturer. This one stop soon any production.
This camera cost, in 1940,69,50 dollars.
